personality, and stress of public university students in Bangkok Metropolis. Four hundred and fifty students
of public universities in Bangkok were selected, using multi-stage sampling technique. Three instruments
were employed to gather needed data: Personality Inventory, Perceived Stress Measure, and Color Preference
Survey. Chi-square and discriminant analysis were used to determine association among the variables studied
and group membership prediction.
The findings of this study showed that the majority of the sampled students preferred cool color
(58.9%). Regarding clothing selection, the majority of the respondents preferred neutral color (63.8%). As
for everyday-life items, their preference on neutral color and cool color were almost the same proportion
(39.2% and 37.8%, respectively). Reasons for their color selection were: preference, appropriateness,
convenience, emotion, complexion, figure, and care. The findings on their personality revealed that the
proportion of extrovert-stable and extrovert-neuroticism were about the same (29.4% and 28.4%, respectively).
The results also showed that the majority of the respondents were at normal level for their stress (56.0%).
The relationship among color preference, personality, and stress of the students showed that color
preference was significantly related with personality and stress at the .05 level; classification of group
membership showed 54.4 and 33.3 percent of cases were correctly classified, respectively. Personality was
significantly related with stress at the .001 level; classification of group membership showed 46.1 percent
of cases were correctly classified. |
